VICE-CHANCELLOR
The Vice-Chancellor is the academic head of the University. The office of the Vice-Chancellor serves as the nerve center of activities in areas of protocol, external relations and coordination of various internal organs. The Vice-Chancellor is a member of the Governing Council and the Chairman of Senate.
Functions of the Vice-Chancellor
The duties of the Vice-Chancellor are vast, all-encompassing and cut across the broad Spectra of Timtally University operations as reflected in the respective duties, functions, responsibilities and schedules of the numerous offices in the system. Accordingly, the numerous duties of the Vice-Chancellor are:
i. Directs the activities of the University and is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University;
ii. Ensures the preparation of agenda, memos and other submissions for the Governing Council meetings;
iii. Fully briefs the Governing Council on all major decisions of University Committees and of Senate;
iv. Brings to the Governing Council for approval or ratification all staff appointments, promotions and disciplinary matters as deliberated upon by the relevant Committees;
v. Ensure adequate preparation of contract documents for the Governing Council as well as observance of due process for all financial transactions;
vi. Responsible for the development of all new projects, rehabilitation and maintenance of all physical structure in the Departments and Colleges;
vii. Coordinates the functions, duties and responsibilities of the University's principal officers;
viii. In conjunction with the Bursar, explores other viable sources of revenue for the University i. e IGR
ix. Ensures that guidelines for admission into the University are adhered to;
x. Ensures that all cases brought before the disciplinary committees are treated fairly and justly;
xi. Ensure smooth and orderly management of students of the University;
xii. Ensures protection of lives and property of staff and students, maintain peace and stability on campus;
xiii. Ensures adequate welfare for both staff and students; and
xiv. Facilitates excellent working relationship with the Governing Council, National Universities Commission, the state and Federal Ministry of Education and NGO’s.
