DEPUTY VICE-CHANCELLORS
The positions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) have been created to ease of the immense responsibilities statutorily vested on the Vice-Chancellor who naturally needs to be assisted in performing his duties. The Deputy Vice-Chancellors are expected to support and complement the Vice- Chancellor in both the academic and the administrative duties and the responsibilities of ensuring an efficient, orderly and democratic University system properly positioned for attainment of set goals. By law, both Deputy Vice-Chancellors are also members of the Governing Council as well as the Senate and the Management Committees and are elected by Senate following nominations by the Vice-Chancellor.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) or in his absence the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academic) acts in the place of the Vice-Chancellor when the office of the Vice-Chancellor is vacant or the Vice-Chancellor is for any reason (including absence from the precincts of the University) unable to perform his/her functions.
Specifically, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) has responsibility for overseeing and supporting community services including student and staff oriented services, business services, health, socio-cultural and religious matters. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) has responsibility for overseeing university committees on research, academic planning, development," publications, learned conferences, postgraduate board, academic staff development, and Deans. He also assists the Vice-Chancellor to generate revenue.
